Vocab 5

1) adroit- clever or skillful in using the hands or mind
Artists are adroit when it comes to making their art.
2) amicable- having a spirit of friendliness
Most pets are amicable when they are young and some even when there older.
3) averse- having a strong dislike of or opposition to something
Many political parties are averse to each others opinions or ideas.
4) belligerent- hostile and aggressive
Police are belligerent when criminals try to fight back
5) benevolent- well meaning and kindly
Sometimes people mean to say things benevolently but it comes out the opposite of it.
6) cursory- hasty and therefore not thorough or detailed
Some teachers are cursory when it comes to specific projects especially tests.
7) duplicity- deceitfulness
Many people try to get away with duplicity but end up getting caught.
8) extol- praise enthusiastically
Students in the war zone extol the football players especially when playing against St. Joe's their rival.
9) feasible- possible to do easily or conveniently
Nowadays its feasible to send important messages instantly across the country rather than to wait days for a letter to arrive
10) grimace- an ugly, twisted expression on someone's face
In geometry many people grimace when they hear they have to do proofs.
11) holocaust- a destruction or slaughter on a mass scale, especially caused by fire or nuclear war
There was a holocaust during WWII where all the Jews were going to get exterminated, but luckily the didn't.
12) impervious- not allowing fluid to pass through
Little kids try to be impervious when they have to drink nasty medicine. 
13) impetus- the force or energy with which a body moves
Dancers are impetus when dancing because they use different forces to get their bodies to move swiftly.
14) jeopardy- danger of harm, loss, or failure
Many peoples that had invested in stocks had their money on jeopardy when 9\11 struck because they struck the stock market.
15) meticulous- showing great attention to detail
Authors tend to be meticulous when writing about a character in their book.
16) nostalgia- a sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations
When listening to songs that remind you of a happy memory it gives you nostalgia.
17) quintessence- the most perfect or typical example of a quality or class
When judging livestock they ask you to place the best quintessence of heifers of the top of todays class.
18) retrogress- go back to an earlier state, typically a worse one
If you don't take care of your teeth after getting your braces off you will have to retrogress and get them again.
19) scrutinize- examine or inspect closely and thoroughly
When my friend  doesn't have her glasses she will scrutinize at the board to try to read it.
20) tepid- showing little enthusiasm
Their isn't much tepidness during rallies or football games.
