UCSB Guest

Today we had Robert Barrera of UCSB's Early Academic Outreach Program come to our class and he helped us brainstorm things that Universities and Scholarships would look for when reading the admission essay. He said that the main things colleges look at when reading the essay are:
1) Leadership
2) Obstacles
3) Diversity
4) Passion/Commitment
5) Goals

He also mentioned that UCSB held a program over the summer, for seniors and under, where you would be treated like an actual college student, like you stay in the dorms and you team up with a professor to do research. Also aside from the research you get to go on fun trips too.
