Vocab 6

1) tatters- irregularly torn pieces of cloth, paper, or other material
A tatter may occur if your clothes get caught in something and it rips.
2) merely- just; only
I merely missed the bus by a few seconds.
3) vast- of very great extent or quantity; immense
The football field is vast enough space to experiment with rocket launchings.
4) parlor- sitting room in private house; a shop providing specified goods or services
Back in the day parlors were used in social gatherings a lot. 
5) abrupt(ly)- sudden and unexpected
She abruptly stopped the car when she saw a dog run in front of her car.
6) refracted- (of water, air, or glass) make (a ray of light) change direction when it enters at an angle
The light is refracted right through the prism.
7) immense- extremely large or great, especially in scale or degree
There was an immense crowd of people at the Righetti vs St. Joe's game.
8) imperceptibly- impossible to perceive
When you're sleepy it's imperceptible to know what someone is saying to you.
9) ventilator- an appliance or aperture for ventilating a room
Nowadays you really need a ventilator when it's hot to bring in cool air.
10) olfactory- of or relating to the sense of smell
They say that blind people have a great olfactory sense.
